Our Story

How It Started ….

2020, bright and early in January, Femi reached out to me via WhatsApp text, clearly with intentions of something “not platonic”, cause he got my number from Tejumade [s/o to you my gem !!]

Me genuinely not being interested in anything of that sort, in no time, started with the whole adding “bro” to every line and he would always tackle it, but I will definitely state that I was receptive, nice and I indulged him, because Femi was just a natural. He did nothing to displease me, make me worried or concerned, or even question his character from day 1.

Through my constant sleeping off on phone calls, inconsistent replies, brother zoning, Femi was really a gentleman.

Well…… !!! Till he attempted to stop talking to me, because again his reply was always “who’s your bro?….”

One way or the other, he reached out again in like 2 weeks cause imagine losing me 😌😌. I teased him a few more times, and by this time, he had developed thick skin, more like “na you sabi, you’re just saying your own..”, eventually, I was like okay okay, maybe I should stop 🤣🤣.

How We Got Close…

Covid lockdown came in April 2020, and with everyone literally doing almost nothing, we would talk for hours, literally all night till dawn and yeah that period, we became so so so close. It wasn’t even video calls btw so it was the old school way 😉 , and to me, it was real friendship which was anyways, was always one of my criteria for anything deeper.

We kept talking, genuinely cared for updates from each other and unintentionally built a bond, which strengthened our friendship, and then formed the basis of our conversations. Although we had a lot of differences like in our lifestyle, careers, or upbringing or even interests at the time, these created room for a lot of stories to be told on both ends. We had quite some similarities as well, that we of course bonded over, like going to the same university, knowing the same people…and the likes.

He then decided to come see me for the first time “officially”, at the nail salon where I was having my appointment, he waited through it all, helped pick colours, what an intentional man don’t you think ? After which, the visits to my home were more frequent, he was also present at my Covid birthday hangout.

Then the lockdown rules became relaxed gradually and came the dates, more of the nice gifts, visits, appearances together and all of those stuff.

How It Kept Going …..[ + a little confession ]

We officially started dating in August 2020 and honestly the years go by so fast when you’re having fun.

By 2022, our lives had become so intertwined, we knew what each other was thinking, how we’ll react to different situations, we went to the same church, knew more of the same people, and many things like that.

To backtrack a little, Femi knew of me already, we had mutuals but we just never spoke or maybe I never really took notice of my surroundings because at different points in the relationship I saw times where I was out and he was somehow in the background of my selfies or the one time someone sent me a video of me dancing with Femi at a party, huh ?

You mean I had danced with this man and been in the same space as him severally ? WOW, very divine if you ask me, also side eyeing him right now…👀 👀

How We Got Here…

Back on track, in May 2025, on a trip to Chicago, Femi took me for “an experience” as he called it and then decided to go down on one knee…. you know what that means. It was really beautiful and there, he promised me the entire world literally, so good luck to you on where you will be moving to very soon lol.

Of course, I said “yes”, my sistersssss came out from hiding, and it was all laughter, a lot of awww, uwwwwww, aahhhhh and shivers because it was quite chilly.

You can already guess, my new name became “Iyawo” and “Bridey”, and those have never left me till then oo.

Then came the First knock [knock knock..] in September 2025, and the Family introduction in December, 2025…..

Where We Are Now…

……Over 2000 days of being wrapped in TLC and now it’s less than 60 days to our wedding day.

Sscreaminggggggggggg, as you may guess, we are excited !!

We feel semi married but technically we are still very engaged till December 3rd, 2026.

Currently it’s a lot of planning, prayers and expenses omggggggg, that’s where we are but, we are gracefully going through it, and being as tender as possible towards each other….It’s us against the world and that’s what being a true partner is !
